Why school kits still matter in San Jose
Santa Clara County is wealthy on paper and uneven in the classroom. A backpack and a complete supply list will not close the opportunity gap. They can keep a student from starting the year already behind and already embarrassed.
Youth & Learning Support is intentionally unglamorous: new supplies, age-appropriate kits, and volunteer time. We prefer gifts that a child can use without a logo on every pencil. Branding belongs on this website, not on a kid’s notebook unless a partner school asks otherwise.
How to help this season
- Fund a kit ($25 suggested on the donate page)
- Donate new supplies — email before you drop off
- Volunteer a Saturday to sort and pack
Teachers and counselors who see a need can write us. We will not ask a child to pose with a giant check.
